DR.Planti App: Learning about plant care with AR technology
Project Overview
What if your plants could actually tell you what's up with them?
As part of a Systems Thinking course, I was challenged to design a concept using North Focals AR glasses. I created Dr. Planti, a plant care assistant that helps users identify plant species and detect issues using AR tech or just your phone camera.

The Research
Insights
To define core user needs, I mapped out what plant enthusiasts want to achieve when caring for their plants. Alongside each goal, I identified relevant limitations that could arise when using AR technology. This helped balance with certain issues that could rise when using this type of technology, to identify this early in the process is important to know so its known what works and what wouldn't work in the real world.

Brainstorming
After the research and compiling everything together , I wanted to brainstorm what kind of features would be good. Since it was a very quick project, I did one that could help me encounter a way to find different ideas of features in the app other than having the AR tech component, I used crazy eights, which helped me find crazy ideas (no pun intended). In the other hand, I started sketching and mapping out the system of how the app would work out.

The Solution
A very simple dashboard with all your scanned plants and quick reminders to help your plant out.
AR Detecting
Using your camera or the north focals, you can scan the plant and it will detect any anomalies and necessary plant care.
Lessons Learned
Some lessons I learned along the way…
🌱 If I had more time, I would have done interviews to learn more
about what other plant enthusiasts think and feel about it
🪴 What if not everyone can use? Accessibility should be always a priority.
🌿 Learning about other competitors!
While all ideas can be innovative, maybe someone else thought about that idea first already, if so are they doing the same? or is it totally different?
